Some years ago I used Dan at Holland Beckett for my first home purchase. It was a very straightforward transaction, yet the conveyancing fees came to around $2,200. At the time I didn’t question it as I was young new to the process and assumed it was normal. Later on I purchased another property that was a complex settlement, and a different lawyer only charged around $1,500. Looking back, the original fee seems quite high for such a simple purchase, and it left me feeling disappointed with the experience.
