Clients consistently praise the professionalism, responsiveness, and empathetic approach of lawyers at Norris Ward McKinnon, with special commendations for Nadia Holdcroft, Abby Evetts, Gil, Carla, and Kerisha. Positive reviews highlight successful outcomes in family law and property matters, clear communication, and personalized care. However, several negative reviews warn about unexpected high costs, slow service, and poor communication, especially in trust and transactional work, with one client noting months of delays and others citing quotes far exceeded by final bills. Overall, clients appreciate the firm's expertise when service is prompt, but cost and timeliness are recurring concerns.

This is a two part review, as I want to make sure I give thanks to both lawyers for the services they done for me. …
I'm just a small fish in society that needed a lawyer I couldn't afford to help with a tenancy dispute. Abby Evetts is outstanding...she took my 80 pages of stuff the tribunal could not understand and turned it into a something I now don't understand (legal jargon). She highlighted the fact that we were done off worse than we initially thought and has by some miracle produced our story in a way the court will understand. Given this has been a very stressful years long process that has caused a lot of sleepless nights and misery in my house that involved my children being abused....it is now we breathe a sigh of relief that we are ready to continue to fight the good fight and put an end this nightmare. It's the first time in my 50 years I've had to engage a lawyer for anything....so I'm glad I choose NWM.
Words cannot express how grateful I am with Nadia Holdcroft. She has been so amazing. It has been a tough but good journey with her by my side. Nadia put in alot of …
I am proud to call Norris Ward McKinnon in Hamilton our Family Trust lawyers. They have provided us with the best of legal advice concerning our property and financial affairs. Their support during difficult times was invaluable - it was prompt, clear and astute. It didn't matter who we were dealing with, meetings were purposeful and lively. We have really appreciated the level of assistance given to us by the whole team.
Very professional to deal with and I feel like they take the time to really listen to you. Very happy we have switched to them from our previously lawyer.
If you want efficient, reliable and exceptional lawyers Norris Ward McKinnon is the place to go. We are beyond happy with our experience, I can’t recommend them enough!
I got assign lawyer through the court from these guys. Beautiful facility, lawyer will definitely make sure that you understand that is to represent your children and your children only. Which is fair. If I could afford to have these guys represent me I definitely would.
Words cannot express how grateful I am with Nadia Holdcroft. She has been so amazing. It has been a tough but good journey with her by my side. Nadia put in alot of hard work and effort for me to have my daughter in my full day to day care and it has payed off. I could not be any happier with the outcome. She supported me right through the process and put in so much effort. Very good communication skills, advice and very good at her job, I have had 2 female Lawyers prior to Nadia Holdcroft and I now realise they did not intend on helping me. I didn't think I had a chance because of my previous Lawyers and was a bit weary at first, but started to realise very quickly that she really wanted to help me and my Daughter. Thank you so much Nadia. I would highly recommend Nadia Holdcroft to anyone in need of a Lawyer that cares and is good at her job 🙏 Thank you 💯
We were very happy with Gil's professionalism, everything well explained.
I have used Norris Ward McKinnon several times. I have always found them to be extremely professional and friendly. A true pleasure to deal with. Great e mail communication and assistance to help meet you needs. Always very prompt Can recommend more highly from my own experiences.
Always prompt, of caring deposition to work alongside and understanding
Absolutely informative and sympathetic. Our experience was beyond reproach.
Carla was fantastic at helping us through our legal requirements. Would highly recommend her & Norris Ward to anyone in need of legal services.
Kerisha is the best Solicitor I have ever dealt with. She is diligent, thorough and responds quickly. I highly recommend her services.
Would not recommend. Gave incorrect advice which put the family trust at risk. Slow to respond and take responsibility for their mistakes. Over priced and do not care about their clients.
Their trust department and in particular the partner in that department should be investigated for their work. Garnishing hours, not communication, skirting around advice but never actually giving it. Borderline criminal! Despite clear …
Terrible service, told would take 2 weeks to get back to me and took months. Thought they had completely forgotten about me, i went and got advice elsewhere and they provided all the information I needed and the matter for very low price, …
Extremely slow service and poor communication. Still waiting, after 8 months, for a "simple" agreement to be drafted and signed. Hasn't even been sent to the other party. Nothing ever progresses without me hassling them - and then, after …
Very Expensive and Unexpected Costs My husband and I were quoted $2,300–$2,600 plus GST and disbursements to purchase a property together. Based on both quotes for selling my husband’s house and …
Be Cautious About Unexpected Charges I recommend being cautious when using this law firm, as costs can quickly exceed the original quote. My wife contacted them for a quote to handle a standard property sale, and we were quoted between $1,600 and $2,100 plus GST and disbursements. After we signed the sale agreement with the real estate agent, the lawyer made a small amendment to the settlement date and discussed the agreement terms with us. The purchaser later made an enquiry about fencing and, a few days later, cancelled the contract due to finance. The lawyer asked if we wanted to request proof of failed finance and advised this would incur an additional cost. We agreed, and received an email confirming the purchaser could not obtain finance from the bank. Despite the contract not settling, we were billed $3,440 for work in progress. This was later reduced to $2,500 plus GST and admin fees, bringing the total to just over $3,000 — far above the original quote, even though settlement never took place. Most communication was by phone, followed by confirmation emails, so I would recommend limiting phone calls where possible, as these appear to add to the overall cost. If you do decide to use this firm, be aware that even small extras can significantly increase your bill. I wish I had read the other reviews before proceeding with this firm.
