Review Summary

Clients praise the firm's professionalism, friendly service, and clear communication, with specific lawyers like Nadia Holdcroft receiving high commendation for their supportive approach in family law matters. However, multiple clients express significant concerns about unexpected costs exceeding original quotes, particularly in property transactions where small changes or additional consultations led to substantially higher bills than anticipated. Several reviewers specifically warn others to be cautious about potential cost overruns and recommend limiting phone communications to control expenses.

Words cannot express how grateful I am with Nadia Holdcroft. She has been so amazing. It has been a tough but good journey with her by my side. Nadia put in alot of hard work and effort for me to have my daughter in my full day to day care and it has payed off. I could not be any happier with the outcome. She supported me right through the process and put in so much effort. Very good communication skills, advice and very good at her job, I have had 2 female Lawyers prior to Nadia Holdcroft and I now realise they did not intend on helping me. I didn't think I had a chance because of my previous Lawyers and was a bit weary at first, but started to realise very quickly that she really wanted to help me and my Daughter. Thank you so much Nadia. I would highly recommend Nadia Holdcroft to anyone in need of a Lawyer that cares and is good at her job 🙏 Thank you 💯

Be Cautious About Unexpected Charges I recommend being cautious when using this law firm, as costs can quickly exceed the original quote. My wife contacted them for a quote to handle a standard property sale, and we were quoted between $1,600 and $2,100 plus GST and disbursements. After we signed the sale agreement with the real estate agent, the lawyer made a small amendment to the settlement date and discussed the agreement terms with us. The purchaser later made an enquiry about fencing and, a few days later, cancelled the contract due to finance. The lawyer asked if we wanted to request proof of failed finance and advised this would incur an additional cost. We agreed, and received an email confirming the purchaser could not obtain finance from the bank. Despite the contract not settling, we were billed $3,440 for work in progress. This was later reduced to $2,500 plus GST and admin fees, bringing the total to just over $3,000 — far above the original quote, even though settlement never took place. Most communication was by phone, followed by confirmation emails, so I would recommend limiting phone calls where possible, as these appear to add to the overall cost. If you do decide to use this firm, be aware that even small extras can significantly increase your bill. I wish I had read the other reviews before proceeding with this firm.

Very Expensive and Unexpected Costs My husband and I were quoted $2,300–$2,600 plus GST and disbursements to purchase a property together. Based on both quotes for selling my husband’s house and purchasing, we expected to pay around $4,700 plus GST in total. The sale and purchase agreement was prepared by our real estate agent and approved by the lawyer, with conditions including the sale of my husband’s property, a LIM, a builder’s report, and a KiwiSaver withdrawal. The lawyer mentioned the pool not being up to code, which we already knew. I also clearly advised that I would review the LIM and builder’s report myself to help keep costs down. However, the invoice stated these were “discussed” with me, which did not happen — we only discussed that I would review these myself. We then received an invoice of $2,700 (later reduced to $2,200 plus admin and GST), which was already close to the full quoted amount, despite the purchase not having progressed very far. Unfortunately, my husband’s property sale fell through due to finance. We asked the lawyer to contact the vendor to request an extension. This involved approximately 20 minutes of phone calls and an email to confirm and satisfy the condition, yet resulted in an additional charge of $845 (after a reduction). In total, we were charged $6,687.50 for a sale that did not go through and a purchase that also did not go ahead. Due to the high and unpredictable costs, we chose to move to another law firm. They transferred my KiwiSaver without any additional charge, which we were grateful for. While the lawyer was lovely to deal with, the overall costs were far higher than expected, and even small changes added up very quickly at the lawyer’s hourly rate. For this reason, we decided not to continue with this firm. The reason we are leaving this review is simply to warn future clients that costs can add up very quickly with this law firm. I wish I had looked at reviews first, as it appears this has happened to a few other clients as well.
